A Little Branch of Love

I never wanted to leave you.

I never wanted to stay.

It felt comfortable to be with you

yet, you gave me pain every single day.

The pain you gave was loving

'cause I did help you in every way.

We never wanted to be together.

Our love just tempted us to stay.

We went through FIVE, yes FIVE

marriage therapists

'cause one wasn't enough.

I knew then you really loved me

in your own special kind of way

and you knew I loved you very much,

you wouldn't have it any other way.

We were not afraid to hurt each other.

We were not afraid to show our love.

We needed peace to guide us

and divorce became our Dove.

We both took and gave each other

exactly what we each deserved.

Now, we both are free

'cause you courageously chose

to Divorce me.

I told you freedom always has a price

and now I want to give you

something nice:

I realize you every time your

thoughts come into my mind

and before I do, this is what

I will usually always find:

There is sudden joy you

somehow always know

how to leave behind

and then I faintly hear

a message you sent to

me with this little singing bird.

This Dove does bring me peacefulness and then briefly seeks release.

So, I send our Dove ,with my love,

to fly away and be free.

You see,

you're also free.

Just like me.

Independence is what we both desire

and we both needed to be free.

I thank God for your courage, little lion 'cause now what I can see

is we're both a thought away

and we can let God be our way.

To send His little birdies

to fly around any time of day

and remember, 

just between the two of us:

Peace is here to stay.
